Citrus-y juice that is perfect when you want to squeeze in some extra freshness in your day (pregnant or not).
Once I was pregnant with my now 2 year old boy, I craved lemony & grapefruit-y drinks all day long. Things got especially intense at 5 o’clock in the evening when I got off work. In the first 4 months (who was I kidding – morning sickness lasts for quite some time!), I barely consumed anything different from strawberries, crackers and lemony drinks.
So, for 4 months straight my dear loving husband was there, standing in the kitchen with my ‘’miracle morning sickness’’ juice in one hand and a few tissues in the other. Cause, as he used to say ‘’ 5 p.m. bebe, time for crying!’’. Weirdly enough I got extra emotional at exactly 5 p.m. every-single-day, the time when my ‘’morning’’ sickness was the hardest to bear. And after an hour of sobbing and reassurance ‘’you’ve got only 3-2-1 months until sickness subsides’’, I was ready to peacefully watch Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s stone for the 23059430 time. Yup, fun times! I’m probably exaggerating (a bit), but that’s how my brain remembers it.
MORNING SICKNESS: Pregnancy related nausea can occur any time of the day (or night) despite its name. Sickness can be accompanied by vomiting and general discomfort. If you have any concerns please turn to your doctor. During my pregnancy I felt better drinking refreshing juices with citrus fruits. Even plain water with lemon made me feel better. If that’s your case too, I hope my juice recipe refreshes your days in those early & wonderful months.
FREEZING YOUR JUICE: If you are not into making your juices every single day (it can be exhausting sometimes), freezing is a good option. Just make this juice 7 (or less), place in freezable bottles (like these on amazon) and freeze. Then, in the evening take one and place it in the fridge (to defrost) and voila – you’ve got fresh juice in the morning, ready to drink.
JUICER: We use Philips Quick Clean Juicer ( similar to this one) that takes only 5 minutes to clean. Although our juicer works perfectly fine, I’ve had my eyes on some slow juicers. Never a bad idea to day-dream, right?
