FUN FACT: The so called Italian sausage is a pork sausage, usually spiced with anise or fennel. In Italy there are a number of varieties when it comes to sausage depending on region and tradition. One different type you may know is called salame, or salami in plural. The main ingredient there is minced pork/beef meat. Typically salted and dried, this type of sausage is used for breakfast sandwiches and quick meals accross Europe.

Air fryer Italian sausage – Ingredients

The Italian sausage I buy in Europe comes fresh in stores, already spiced. A package I purchase is usually around 600g (1,3 lbs) and contains 4 sausages.

FROZEN ITALIAN SAUSAGE: If you happen to have frozen Italian sausage on hand, leave it to thaw in the fridge overnight/or while at work. Then cook like described below.
